Yes, you can use Apple Pay to pay for your Hailo journeys if you’re a London user. Please note that you cannot currently use Apple Pay if you have selected an American Express card as your Apple Pay card.
You will need an iPhone6 or later Apple device, and your operating system needs to be iOS8.3 or higher. Your credit or debit card also needs to support Apple Pay - contact your bank to confirm whether it does.
Apple Pay is available as a means of payment from version 4.22.
Press “Pick Me Up Here”. You will see a confirmation screen. Press the “Paying With” section and select Apple Pay as your payment method. When you press "Request Taxi", you will be shown an Apple Pay payment screen. Touch the Home button lightly in order to approve the payment, and your taxi will be on its way. You can read more about Touch ID here
First, check that you have the latest version of the Hailo app - Apple Pay is only available in version 4.22 or above. If you still don’t see Apple Pay as a payment option in the "Paying With" section, it either means that Apple Pay is not set up on your phone, or that you have selected an American Express card as your Apple Pay card. Please select a VISA or Mastercard credit or debit card in order to use Apple Pay. See here and here for more information about using Apple Pay with Hailo. Apple Pay will not show as a payment option in your Wallet until you have paid for your first Apple Pay journey.
Of course. After you have paid for a Hailo journey via Apple Pay, go to Menu > Wallet. You will see all the payment methods you have registered with Hailo. Select “Apple Pay” and then tap “Set as default”.
We make a small charge of £0.01 on your card at the start of the journey to make sure that your card is valid. If your journey is cancelled, this will be refunded to you. If you complete your journey, Hailo will charge your card for the total amount, including any tip you choose to add. Your app and your email receipt will both display the final amount you will be charged.
